How I got Inspired to start writing

How I got Inspired to start writing

I’ve always wanted to improve my ability to express my thoughts through writing, to communicate my inner self just like countless writers have done, shaping and contributing to the person I am today and the person I’m becoming.

Back in secondary school, I struggled with communication. I was excellent with numbers (naturally, as a science student), but I never prioritized writing and communication. I thought they were the domain of Art students until a classmate of mine proved me wrong. She excelled in both math and communication, able to articulate her thoughts clearly through writing and speech. I was amazed and inspired.

Fast forward to the Covid pandemic, my brother took a keen interest in my personal development. He introduced me to several Facebook writing and personal development groups. One group that stood out and remains my favorite is Headstart Africa. Why? Because it showcased the power of structured writing and communication, thanks to the incredible teachings of John Obidi. His use of words and terminology was enlightening.

John Obidi’s writing was the catalyst I needed to start my personal development journey. I began writing, but throughout 2020-2021, none of my submissions were approved for publication on the platform. However, I was overjoyed when my first post was finally approved. It validated my progress and showed me how far I had come in structuring my thoughts through writing.

I’ve learned that communication is key, regardless of the medium. It’s a crucial tool for people, businesses, and careers. Effective communication through writing helps people convey their ideas, emotions, and thoughts clearly and persuasively, fostering better relationships and understanding. For businesses, writing is essential for marketing, brand building, and customer engagement. Well-crafted content can attract and retain customers, drive sales, and establish a brand’s voice and credibility. In careers, strong communication skills can distinguish individuals, enabling them to articulate their ideas, persuade others, and lead teams effectively. Writing also serves as a personal branding tool, showcasing expertise and facilitating networking with industry peers — and you should possess a writing skill too.

Today, I can express my thoughts without hesitation, whether through speech or writing. I now have a detailed and comprehensible blog where I document personal stories, experiences and technical guides for others to learn from.

Through my journey, I’ve learned that anything can be mastered with hard work and consistency. This post you’re reading is the result of consistent hard work perfected over time.

What is something you’d like to do, even if you’re not good at it yet? If you find inspiration or fulfillment in it, give it a try and keep learning. You’ll improve as you go along.

As always, I look forward to the accomplishments that lie ahead!

….to your productivity and growth.
